Argos Translations opened its first regional translation office in the Windy City on January 1st of 2007. The decision to open a Chicago translation office was done because of the city’s almost central location between the East and West coasts, and the city’s service as a commercial hub for virtually all of U.S. businesses.
Chicago boasts a highly diverse, multi-cultural population for whom translations play an important role in everyday life. Chicago translations thus are an important service used by a large portion of the city’s inhabitants, just as translations play an important part in a large amount of U.S. / international transactions that occur daily in Chicago.
Info on Chicago
Chicago is the third largest (by population) city in the U.S with the second largest business district in America, housing multiple industries from high-tech, to print, manufacturing, retail, distribution, brokerage and insurance.
Chicago has some of the most spectacular and influential architecture of all American cities. With U.S.’ tallest skyscrapers and multiple beautiful buildings built by Louis Sullivan of the “Chicago School” and Frank Lloyd Wright who pioneered the steel-frame skyscraper design, Chicago is world-known for having a spectacular skyline.
Chicago also houses a unique primary transportation system. The ‘L’ is part subway, part tram and part overhead trolley. It is unique to Chicago and its influence on the city is underlined by the fact that the downtown area of Chicago is called the “loop” from the “L’s” circular tracks around the central blocks of Chicago’s downtown.
