Krakow as Argos Translations headquarters’ location

Argos Translations determined to make Krakow its place of residence due to the city’s almost central location in Europe and its proximity to other European countries and capitals, and due to the large amounts of available and highly qualified translators in this region of Europe.

Krakow in History

Krakow is one of the jewels of the Central European cities. In fact, it is thought as such because from 1978 the city has been placed upon UNESCO’s list of world’s most precious cultural and natural heritage monuments. The city’s history spans for over a millennium and is marked with wars, legends, and royal & political affairs.

Its origins date back to the 4th century, with the earliest written record at 966 A.D. when it was an important trade hub out of which the city quickly grew to become the capital of Poland in 1038. Housing one of the oldest universities in Europe, Krakow maintained its status as both cultural and architectural capital of Poland to date. In 1609 the capital of Poland was moved to Warsaw (though formally not legally until the 1900’s). Since the 17th century Krakow has kept its status as the cultural, artistic, architectural and tourist capital of Poland.

Currently the city holds many representative offices of the Globe’s 1000 companies such as: Coca-Cola, Phillip Morris, International Paper, Can-Pack, CapGemini, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Motorola and RR Donnelley, to name a few.

With its rich history, multi-cultural past and present international businesses, it is not surprising to find Argos Translations, one of the biggest Central and Eastern European translation companies, headquartered in Krakow.
