Argos Translations was recently involved in translating 7 instruction manuals for a manufacturer of professional kitchen appliances for home use. The client required translation and DTP work for manuals covering two complete lines of premium appliances including cooking, ventilation, clean-up Dishwashing and refrigeration, as well as various outdoor appliances.
Argos was commissioned to complete a 6 language translation of the manuals (covering: Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, German, Canadian French and North American Spanish) and provide a comprehensive desktop publishing service over all manuals, images and content.
Because of the large scope of the project that consisted of almost 100K words (split into two portions: 11K of words into 4 languages, and second portion of 27K of words into 2 languages) and 62 hours of DTP work, Argos assigned a specialized team of translators, DTP specialists and reviewers who handled all work on the project and managed to complete the first portion in 8 working days.
Of interest is the fact that the client initially contacted a competing translation agency and asked for a quote and a tentative timeline to complete the assignment. That translation agency quoted a timeline of 11-12 weeks to complete the first portion of the project.
Upon delivery, the client was extremely happy not only with fast turn around times, but also with the high quality of translated content prepared by Argos.
