Multiple regional, local as well as international government institutions count on Argos Translations to deliver high quality translation and localization services. Recently, one of EU’s departments responsible for regional development commissioned Argos to complete a translation of a regional policy guide that incorporated extensive investment estimate analysis.

The project’s technical language consisted of over 100,000 words that needed translation from English into Polish in less than 2 months time. Argos approached the project by designating a specialized team of translators, quality assurance reviewers and a project manager who overlooked all of the translation work for this assignment.

Argos’ production team used Trados throughout the course of the project to aid and assist during translation and help streamline all necessary work. In effect, Trados helped to cut down production costs allowing Argos to pass the savings back to our client, leaving the EU bureau extremely satisfied with the final translation.

A worldwide furniture manufacturer and reseller commissioned Argos Translations to adapt their furniture assembly booklet into Polish. The booklet, with its +17,000 words of content, instructed the reader on proper set-up procedures and safety precautions when assembling the product. Our client requested that the booklet be translated into Polish within 2 months of the receipt date. Argos was also asked to perform PDF review and proofreading of all translated content prior to delivery.

Because of a highly repetitive word count in the source text, Argos utilized translation memory tools over multiple portions of the project. The use of TM tools helped streamline the translation process while offering maximum cost savings to our client. Furthermore, Argos dedicated an experienced translator to work on the polish translation and a skilled proofreader to review all completed work.

In so doing, Argos’ production team completed all required translations (including review and proofreading) on time and to our client’s fullest satisfaction.

Argos Translations was recently commissioned to translate marketing brochures for a major, global automotive manufacturer. The client needed Polish and English translations of marketing materials for two of their car models, prior to their introduction to market. On top of translation services, the car manufacturer also required review, quality assurance checks and glossary creation for over 4000 words.

The client also had specific instructions involving translating portions of the content via reference to separate Polish brochures previously delivered. The deadline for the assignment was set at 10 working days, and required Argos to dedicate a translator, reviewer and a quality assurance specialist to handle all the necessary work.

In order to cut costs, improve consistency of translation and increase client’s savings, Argos utilized translation memory tools over the course of the assignment. The TM tools not only helped meet the target deadline, but they also helped cut total translation costs by about 8.5% improving consistency of all translated content and leaving our client extremely satisfied with the end result.

Argos Translations regularly completes translation and localization projects for governmental institutions in the U.S. and the EU as well as for the UN. Recently, Argos was commissioned to adapt a United Nations’ procurement manual into English, French and Spanish. The project required desktop publishing work and editing services.

In order to quickly and effectively complete this UN translation project, Argos dedicated a team that included Quality Assurance specialists, translators and DTP specialists, all of whom worked to adapt the manual for use in multiple languages. Aside from translating the material, most of the work revolved around editing, DTP formatting and on-line placement of the translated content.

The UN had strict guidelines that Argos had to follow. Argos had to edit all non-substantive aspects of the manual and format them into a standard suitable for use by public international organizations. Argos had to perform multiple checks that included: inter alia, pagination, page reference, spelling, consistency of capitalization, punctuation and organization. In addition, Argos Translations had to prepare the completed manual for placement on-line on the UN website in a format that is searchable and downloadable, but which could not be modified except by authorized UN personnel. The on-line versions would also need to include internal and external hyperlinks, “active” tables of contents, and keyword search capability as a minimum requirement.

Argos adapted the English portion of the project, which included 350 pages, in less than 2 weeks. In effect, Argos Translations helped the UN adapt a large manual for use by other international institutions only a few days after it was initially drafted, thereby increasing UN’s efficiency and speed of communication with various outside organizations.

Argos regularly completes translation projects for electric machinery manufacturers around the world. Recently Argos Translations was commissioned to carry out electric-turbine document translations from Polish into English for one such manufacturer. Because of the technical nature of the assignment, Argos also completed transcription and DTP work on top of the text translation.

The first batch of the project consisted of translation of over 60,000 words on 240+ pages (including DTP work on complex technical drawings). Argos assigned teams of DTP specialists, localization engineers, translators and Project Managers to complete the assignment in less than 2 months, thereby meeting our client’s deadline.

The project’s technical and complex nature required Argos to transcribe the source text from scans. The transcription was done so that Trados could be used as an aid in the translation process, thus improving translation consistency over the target language. Simultaneously, all of the complex technical drawings required skilled handling in InDesign that was completed by Argos’ in-house DTP department.

In the end, Argos successfully adapted all the content from Polish into English enabling our client to use and distribute the materials over their target market - India.

Project Brief:

Argos Translations regularly completes localization projects for various machine manufacturers in the automation industry. When new machines are developed they require translated content, translated instructions manuals and localized software in order to be user-friendly when sold abroad. Argos helps machine manufacturers adapt the language of their products to fit the needs of a target market, thus enhancing products’ marketability.

Argos Translations recently completed a software localization project for a grinding machines manufacturer. The project was split up into two parts that involved translation and software localization of 20,000 words into Eastern European languages. The client also required specialized handling of their software strings that use a unique format and encoding, and could not be converted using regular CAT tools.

While the client provided us with their own translation tool to adapt the code, that tool did not support features that regular CAT tools offered (e.g. TM, search, etc.). As such, Argos designed a special software application that allowed us to convert those files to a familiar format (Trados) and following translation, convert them back to the client’s unique format.

The Argos designed application combined the benefits of Trados (incl. higher consistency of translation between same projects for this client and lower costs) with the ability to supply our client with translated and localized software in the specific format they required. In the end, Argos completed the assignment ahead of schedule, helping the client lower their translation costs and deliver their product to market on time.

It has new sections for MLVs, an extended downloads section that includes: videos, project briefs, interactive maps of projects, and an interactive workflow graph. In the future the website will also house a flash presentation of our DTP services along with a virtual tour of our headquarters.

Argos Translations hopes that a restructured navigation bar will enhance the user experience while the updated content will provide invaluable information for those seeking to learn more about professional translations and localization services.

Argos Translations completes multiple translation projects for the travel and transportation industries. As the world becomes smaller, and as business clients find themselves frequently attending cross-continental meetings, translations are employed to help everyone present their companies better.

In fact, Argos was commissioned to complete a company presentation translation for a reseller of secure bag systems used at international airports. The presentation was to be used by the company when introducing their products at various airports across Europe. The company presentation translation consisted of: Spanish, Italian, English and Polish translations of over 30 000 words of content all completed in under 1 week.

To successfully realize the assignment, Argos dedicated Polish, Spanish and Italian translators along with a quality assurance team, and a project manager who overlooked the whole translation process. In effect, Argos completed the 30 000 word translation on time, enabling our client to effectively market their products to foreign airports.
