Desktop Publishing (DTP)
Argos has expanded its translation service offerings to include both localization and desktop publishing. We have extended our DTP department to include not only experienced and highly qualified (and skilled) DTP specialists and graphic designers, but have also provided them with all of the latest software and applications necessary to prepare any project, any size, in any format and on any platform, in the time specified by our clients. Furthermore, Argos provides DTP services for every language. Our DTP department can currently provide you with services that include the following:
- Post–DTP QA checks (content check)
- Working with markup languages such as HTML, SGML, XML as well as online documentation formats such as Acrobat PDF and various others
- Font management applications such as Adobe Type Manager
- Knowledge of various printer drivers and professional PostScript printers
Argos can handle everything from DTP for documentation to software and multimedia projects. Argos employs experienced DTP specialists who are responsible for desktop publishing and graphic localization. Our DTP department can also handle:
- Formatting and page layout
- Creating and editing graphics and screen shots (generic graphics, screen captures, illustrations and diagrams)
- Converting/generating output of translated material in multiple formats (creating PostScript files and PDF files)

DTP staff
The majority of DTP projects are done in-house as we employ a group of DTP specialists. However, if a project’s volume fills our capacity, then Argos also has access to several freelancers ready to assist during the project.
Reviewers and quality control
Our reviewers do a final proof of document and graphic files before they go to print, or are published, to ensure that the content was not altered or distorted in any way during the DTP process and that the final version closely resembles the source material.
DTP responsibilities
As with all employees, we look for DTP specialists with experience. Argos DTP specialists know how to use a variety of different graphics and publishing programs. They are responsible for the visual/graphic sections of a project; they take care of layout, formatting, graphic localization, screen capture creation and the conversion of printed documentation to an online format.
